How do I book in a cake order?
The first thing I would recommend you do is check out the celebration cake page. This details pricing and house flavours that you can choose 'straight off the bat'. If you are looking for something a little more personalised though, we can do that too. Have a little think about size (how many you would like the cake to serve), what date you require the cake ready for, and any flavours/design ideas you have. Then either use the contact form or call/email and we can get you book in, subject to availability. Don't worry if you don't have all the answers when you contact us - we are more than happy to help guide you through the process.
How far in advance do I need to book?
As far as possible please! Everything at Bitesize Bakehouse is made up fresh to order. We need around 2 days (sometimes more) to scratch make your fillings, sponges, stack and dress the cake so the more notice we have the better. We are getting booked up further in advance now too so if you would like a cake, please do get in touch as soon as you start thinking about one. We take bookings a full year in advance for all enquiries so it is never too early from our point of view!
How do I store my cake?
Nearly all the cakes from Bitesize Bakehouse should be stored in the fridge when not being consumed. They will keep for a good few days. When you are getting ready to serve your cake, take it out of the fridge around 2 hours prior to cutting. This will allow the cake to come up to room temperature, let the sponges relax and the flavours settle before eating... plus, no-one likes cold cake!! Please do return your cake to the fridge after serving though to allow you to keep the cake food safe and OK to eat for the longest amount of time. As they are freshly prepared, they can also be wrapped and frozen for a few months too if you don't eat it all in one sitting. We will advise you of all of this, or any changes to this based on your order, on collection though.
Do you need a deposit for my booking?
Yes. We take a non-refundable 20% deposit for all cake bookings to confirm your order no matter how far out the due date is. We can only take on a certain number of cakes/orders across a given day due to our size and will turn away other business if you are booked in. We will then require full payment before collection but will confirm this with you at point of booking. We do still provide flexibility within your order though and will do our best to accommodate and changes that you require to your order
Do you deliver?
Yes - availability dependent. Collection from BB HQ is standard, however delivery can definitely be arranged for a small extra fee dependents on your location. Let us know at point of booking if you would like a price for deliver and we can certainly let you know!
I'm looking for my wedding cake. Where do I start?
How exciting! Congratulations!! So, I would recommend heading straight to our Wedding page. You will find more information about what we can do for you and the process. Please do call or email and we can have an initial chat about what you are looking for straight away. If I can get a rough idea of numbers you would like to cater for, and a starting point for the type of cake, I am always happy to provide ball park figures ahead of a more in-depth consultation so you can see whether we would fit your budget.
Do you provide tasting consultations for Wedding Cakes?
Yes. Consultations are £35 per couple. Cake consultations are held here at BB HQ and are one hour long. You will have plenty of cake (pre-selected flavours, chosen by yourself ahead of the day) to try and any other items to sample that you are interested in for the big day, all washed down with some bubbles or tea (your choice!).
Where are you based?
BB HQ is based just to the south of Cambridge, and sat right on top of Saffron Walden, in a village called Great Chesterford
Do you have anything I can purchase today?
Unfortunately not. Everything here at BB is baked fresh to order so I rarely have items available for same day collection. On rare occasions or for planned events, this may change. The best way to stay up to date with any changes like items to purchase same day or events, is to follow us on our social channels:

Do you cater for Vegans/ Gluten Free? Other dietaries /allergens?
Absolutely, yes. Because everything here is made fresh to order, we can definitely work around your particular dietary needs. However, it is important to note that our kitchen does store and work with gluten, nuts, dairy products and other allergens so, although we will do our absolute best to avoid cross contamination, we cannot confirm that there are no trace elements of these allergens in our products. Please do contact us to discuss your requirements before ordering.
Do you sell to wholesale/trade?
We do indeed. Please contact us directly to chat through exactly what you are looking for. We have, and do, create bespoke items for wholesale and would love to explore the options available for you.
I've sent you an email - when can I expect a response?
We will be in touch as soon as we can. Although you might not get an immediate response if we are baking up a storm in the kitchen, we do endeavour to check our emails every day (Mon-Fri) and will respond as soon as possible to your query.
Do you provide corporate options?

I've ordered something from the online shop. When will it arrive?
We have just moved to customers selecting dispatch days at checkout so your order will be posted out on this pre-chosen date. Typically, post can take around one to two days to arrive depending on the courier service chosen.
Please note your items are made fresh to order so will not be available for dispatch/collection same day.
If you ever have a specific delivery date that you require, just get in touch and I will do everything I can to accommodate that request.
What are the delivery options for the online shop?
There are 3 main options when ordering online. You can opt for the following:
Royal Mail First Class- 24-48 Hours from post out day
Courier Delivery - 24 Hours from post out day
Collection from BB HQ - pick up collection time will be confirmed individually
Can I order something from the online shop for a specific date?
Yes, absolutely! Just leave us a note in the "Note from buyer" section at checkout for the date that you would like the order to arrive and we will do our best to work to this for you. If for any reason we cannot, we will contact you immediately and offer and alternative or full refund.
Please note that all orders are baked fresh so we typically cannot support a next day turn around. Please do contact us with any special requirements though. We will always try our best to accommodate what you need.
